Dr. Gaye Üstüner
After graduating from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry, I focused on pediatric dentistry. I am currently undertaking PhD research in pedodontics at Yeditepe University Department of Pediatric Dentistry.
My doctoral thesis is on child patients treated under general anesthesia. I combine modern clinical techniques with empathetic behavior management to make every child's dental experience positive and fearless.

What Parents Ask Most
When should I bring my child for their first dental visit?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends the first dental visit by the eruption of the first tooth, and no later than the child's first birthday. Early visits are critical for preventive care, parent education, and helping the child acclimate to the clinical environment.
My child is afraid of the dentist — how do you treat them?
At my clinic I use the Tell-Show-Do (first tell, then show, then perform) behavior management technique. The first appointment is introductory; instruments are demonstrated on the child's finger first. With digital anesthesia (WAND/STA) the visual anxiety of a traditional needle and the sudden pressure of injection are eliminated.
Is digital anesthesia (WAND/STA) truly painless?

What is early orthodontic treatment and when should it start?
AAO and AAPD recommend that every child have an orthodontic evaluation by age 7 at the latest. Crossbite, narrow upper jaw, thumb sucking, and similar issues detected during mixed dentition are resolved much more easily with Phase 1 intervention. More: /en/services/early-orthodontics
Should I choose braces or clear aligners (Invisalign)?
Braces can be used in mild-to-severe cases and do not depend on patient compliance. Clear aligners (Invisalign First / Teen) offer aesthetic advantages but require 20-22 hours of daily wear and may fall short in complex cases. Is dental treatment under general anesthesia safe?
